Things are calming down

Leaves
by~Elsie Brady

How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.

At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.

Things are finally slowing down here. I have put the garden to rest for the winter and I am down to milking one goat. We had some friends come and visit for about 5 days and that was a blast. Jacob has 2 more football games in the regular season. Today they won their first game:). AWANA is in full swing, with only the girls participating this year. Jacob is enjoying CAP (Civil Air Patrol) and is finally able to be a member rather than just be an attender. I am looking forward to the cold days of winter where we can turn the pellet stove on and cuddle under blankets and read. This winter I am going to try and only leave the house one day during the work week. It seems all summer long we have been going, going, going.
