Mothers Day Hike ~one day late
On Mothers Day we were supposed to go hiking, but the weather wasn't cooperating so we waited until Monday to head out. A friend told me about this trail just recently so we decided to try it out. It is only about 10 minutes from our house( I can't believe I have lived here for almost 5 years and didn't know this trail existed!) So the kids packed up their back packs and we headed out.
The view at the start of the trail.
Another view from a different direction.
Starting off on the trail.
See that grey road looking thingy? Thats where we are headed, but I really didn't think we were going all the way down there. See the trail? That's what we traveled on.
We saw a dead rabbit along the way.
UP UP UP...we took Daisy dog with us. She was the girls protector on the narrow parts. She would walk between the edge and the little girls so they wouldn't slide down the hill.
Rob: alway on the edge;)
A great look for Jordan, don't you think? She was having a great time, just a bad picture.
See the grey? Thats where we are headed...
Almost there...
That sign was about half way down...at this point not looking forward to going back up.
Made it to the river at the bottom.
Can you see the rattle snake? It was under the bridge we were standing on. I HATE SNAKES!
Heading back up! I survived and didn't really have to catch my breath on the way up;) The kids did great, even Jaelyn. She was dressed warmly so she was pretty toasty going back up but she was a trooper!

Them Chickens!
We have slowly gotten outside to do things around the yard. We've been working in the garden building up the mounds and planting some things, planting in the greenhouse, mowing, watering just plain cleaning up. Jordan and I worked in the little flower garden we have that is in front of the garage. We spent about an hour an a half weeding and laying down a top coat of fresh dirt, then we headed inside to get ready for our last night of AWANA. Shortly there after, Jacob was outside and saw me in the window and mouthed me the words "do you see what the chickens did?" OH I could only imagine...I so want flowers with pretty beds. But until we get these chickens locked up(and throw away the key)there will be no flowers for this momma...I finally had the nerve to look at it this morning. GRRRR!!!
Anyone have any ideas to keep my chickens out of my flower bed(besides the chicken coop fence? Or do I just give up the dream of having pretty flowers.
